About Me
My name's Christopher and I'm a husband, a father, a nuclear engineer, a hobbyist woodworker, a fightin' Texas Aggie, a baseball fan (Go Stros!), a YouTuber (not whiskeytube, but for woodworking), an outdoor enthusiast, a collector of comics and baseball cards, and a fan of whiskey!
Over the past few years, I've ventured back into enjoying whiskey after being on the craft beer train for the better part of a decade. Bourbon was my original spirit of choice though, and I think my introduction to craft beer (and being a foodie in general) allowed me to train my palate to pick up on tasting notes better than I could a decade plus ago when I was last into the brown water. This time around, I'm more interested in trying new whiskeys, bourbon being a particular favorite. I've found that I really enjoy picking out tasting notes and finding the subtle differences between whiskeys. I like the science of how wood selection, age, environment, mash bill, etc. influence how a whiskey tastes. As an engineer, I love data and finding trends, so while I recognize whiskey making and tasting is an art, I enjoy analyzing the "why" behind what I'm picking up in my tasting notes at times.
